Project 3 - World Health Organization PSA Poster
WHO Arts and Health Initiative

Public Service Announcement Poster Campaign

This project is a three-piece Public Service Announcement (PSA) poster campaign created for the World Health Organization’s Arts and Health Initiative. The campaign explores how creative expression can support mental and emotional well-being and frames art as an accessible, everyday form of care.
To present the final posters, I placed each design into a digital mockup to show how the campaign could live in real-world public spaces. Viewing the posters in context helped reinforce the idea that these messages are meant to be seen by a broad audience and understood quickly. While each poster features a different moment of engagement with the arts, they are unified through consistent typography, color palettes, and an expressive, hand-drawn visual style.
The mockups emphasize the scale, hierarchy, and overall impact of the posters as a cohesive campaign. Together, they communicate a simple but inclusive message: healing does not always come from clinical settings, and art can play a meaningful role in supporting individual and community health (:
You may recognize the artist on the left, Basqiuat, and the musician on the right, David Byrne of the talking heads, both artists used their art to express themselves.!
A few more digital mock-ups, I would love to see this in person!
Earlier drafts that did not make the cut for me, although, I still lov ethe
Creating the font was one of the highlights of this project for me, I got really creative and I love the result.
Conclusion

This poster campaign allowed me to explore how design and illustration can function as tools for public health communication. By focusing on the World Health Organization’s Arts and Health Initiative, I was able to combine research, visual experimentation, and personal style into a cohesive PSA series. The project pushed me to think beyond traditional health messaging and instead focus on emotion, accessibility, and human connection.
Overall, this work reflects my interest in expressive, people-centered design and my belief that creativity has real value beyond aesthetics. This project strengthened my ability to develop a concept across multiple pieces while maintaining consistency, clarity, and intention. It also reinforced the importance of process, feedback, and iteration in creating meaningful design outcomes.
